Mathijs de Weerdt is an associate professor at the Delft University of Technology. Mathijs's PhD thesis has been completed in 2003, and he received the prestigious VENI grant from NWO to support his research into coordinated planning from 2005 to 2008. Mathijs has been co-promotor of 4 PhD students who completed their thesis before he received ius promovendi (as of January 2018). Currently he is first promotor of 5 PhD students and co-promotor of 3 more (so 12 in total). From 2005 to 2016 Mathijs has been working for one day a week at the CWI (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica), which is the Netherlands’ national research institute for mathematics and computer science. Since 2017 Mathijs is also scientific advisor of the Maintenance Research and Development Group of the Dutch National Railways (NS).
